In the higher grades there is a stronger emphasis on academics based on our commitment to prepare students scholastically for their future schools and any testing that may be required of them.
Pre-K students participate in the Handwriting Without Tears program, which involves handwriting, letter recognition, penmanship, and much more. Students also develop two journals: one for monthly face portraits to monitor their maturing attention to details, and one in which students will freely draw a picture and talk about it with the teacher. (This is a one-on-one experience to encourage students conversationally—they tell a story as the teacher writes exactly what they are told by the student.) We work on hand and muscle coordination as well as math skill games and memory games. Pre-K students also enjoy weekly music, dance, art, and play-ball activities.
